    Jacobaea abrotanifolia subsp. carpathica occurs in the Carpathians and mountains of the Balkan Peninsula, extending in the south to Voras (Kajmakčalan), where it grows in grassland over micaceous schist at high altitude (1800–2500 m). Closely related taxa occur in the Alps and Pyrenees.A
