    Colchicum triphyllum is a spring-flowering mountain species, widespread but very scattered in the Mediterranean area and SW Asia. The plants in the photo (from Mt Chelmos) were growing at the very edge of melting snow, together with, among others, Crocus nivalis, Ficaria ficarioides and Ranunculus brevifolius.A
