    Cercis siliquastrum is widespread in the Mediterranean region and frequently planted as an ornamental along roads. It is a large deciduous shrub or small tree. The pinkish purple flowers, appearing directly from branches just before or with the leaves, are the colour for Easter (Πάσχα) in Greece.A
