    Melittis melissophyllum is widespread in C, E & S Europe. In Greece it is found in deciduous woodland at moderate altitude, mainly in the north but scattered southwards to Taigetos. Greek plants are probably all referable to subsp. albida, although the colour of the corolla is very variable, sometimes pure white but more often with large, reddish purple blotches.A
