Description

Erect shrub, c. 1 m high. Leaves chartaceous, elliptic, lanceolate, or oblanceolate, 15-29 by 5-12 cm; Inflorescences at the basal part of the stem or near the ground, usually in the axils of bracts, single or sparsely branched near the base, racemiform, 12-14 cm long, puberulous; Stamens in 2 whorls: Capsules unknown.

Distribution

Asia-Tropical: Borneo present (Sarawak present), Gunong Mulu Nat. Park present
Malesia: Borneo (Sarawak: Gunong Mulu Nat. Park).

Uses

Said to be used for birth control by Punan people.

Notes

Allied to T. dependens which has, however, the undersurface of the leaf covered by papillae forming rings or loops and a glabrous perianth. See also note under T. penitilobata.
