Distribution

Asia-Tropical, central montane part of New Guinea endemic
Malesia: endemic to the central montane part of New Guinea.

Uses

The bark is used for fibre and as a substitute for soap.

Notes

This subspecies attains dimensions similar to those of subsp. falcataria; it is a tall tree up to 52 m, bole to 22 m, d.b.h. to 100 cm. The branches tend to be stronger angled than in subsp. solomonensis and the tree has a flat-topped crown.
