There is no unanimity of opinion about the identity of BURMAN'S plant which he said to have come from Java. MERRILL () suggested it to be a form of L. octovalvis which I doubt in view of the specific epithet and the species with which it is being contrasted. ALSTON () took it up for L. hyssopifolia, and this suggestion seems the most plausible. From BURMAN'S description, which contains almost certainly errors, it cannot be identified. Unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately, the type at G could not be found.
