Taxonomy

This subsection shows similarities to sect. Sycomorus in the characters of the perianth of the pistillate flowers, but in other features, such as the presence of lateral bracts and distichous leaves with asymmetric laminas it would fit in sect. Sycocarpus. Placing the entity as subsection in sect. Sycomorus could be considered.
