Description

Shrub or tree up to 8(-15) m tall. internal hairs few, whitish. Leaves spirally arranged; stipules 0.5-1.8 cm long, sericeous, caducous.

Morphology

2Three varieties can be distinguished. 1Leaves on the same twig can vary considerably in dimensions and shape of the lamina and in the length of the petiole. Leaves with adult and juvenile features often occur on the same twig.

Uses

Young shoots are eaten raw; decoctions of leaves are used to treat kidney complaints.
