Description

Herb up to 30(-40) cm. Leaves broadly ovate, 4-15 by 3-10 mm, slightly cordate at base, acutish and mucronate at apex, 3-5-nerved, glabrous; Flowers 1.7-2.3(-2.6) mm long, white to light violet. Sepals subequal, 0.5-0.8 mm long. Capsule c. 1 by 1.5-2 mm, walls of cells with protruding reticulate venation;

India present, Japan present, Langkawi Is present, Luzon present, Madura I present, Mindanao present, Misool I present, Nepal present, Nias present, Panay present, Riouw present, S. China present, S. Vietnam present, Sumbawa present, Tanimbar Is present, Timor present
E. India and Nepal, Bangla Desh, Burma, Thailand, S. Vietnam to S. China (Yunnan); in Malesia: Sumatra (also Nias, Riouw, Banka), Malay Peninsula (also Langkawi Is.), Java (also Madura I.), Lesser Sunda Islands (Sumbawa, Timor), Borneo, Celebes, Philippines (Luzon, Panay, Mindanao), Moluccas (Ceram, Ambon, Tanimbar Is.) and Misool I.; not recorded from New Guinea. Records for Japan and Australia are erroneous.

Notes

Mixed collections of this and the next species are not uncommon.
