BURMAN'S description and figure are based on a specimen of Java. In L there is a specimen in herb, VAN ROYEN, with a label 'Thuya javanica è Java. Monoic. ' which seems to be in BUR-MAN'S handwriting and which can provisionally be accepted as the type specimen. According to HALLIER.f. () it belongs to Juniperus chinensis, a conifer already cultivated in Java in early days.
