Guioa misimaensis

Description

Tree, up to 20 m high, dbh up to 30 cm. Branchlets shortly sericeous when young; Leaves 1- or 2-jugate; Inflorescences axillary, branching along the flattened, subsericeous, 4.6-13.7 cm long axis; Flowers in bud. Sepals 5, ovate, margin pilose, outside and inside glabrous; Petals 5, immature, elliptic, blade gradually decurrent into the claw, margin pilose, outside and inside glabrous, apex acute, white; Stamens 8, immature; Fruits unknown.

Malesia: Papua New Guinea (Milne Bay Prov.: Misima I.).

Notes

Guioa misimaensis is part of the G. ri-gidiuscula-complex. This species may be distinguished by its symmetrical leaflets with papillae and short subsericeous hairs, its crested scales, and its interrupted disc.
