Description

Small annual or subperennial climbers, leafy stem 1-2 mm diam., green on drying; Leaves simple, unlobed or lobed. Flowers small or medium, 5-20 mm diam.; Fruit solitary, with long fruiting pedicel, globose or ellipsoid, 0.8-3 cm long, glabrous, red, juicy; Seeds c. 10 or numerous, little compressed or almost spherical, ovoid, scrobiculate or pitted, margin faint or narrow, edge entire.

Distribution

Asia-Tropical: New Guinea present
A genus of 7 species confined to New Guinea.

Morphology

The species much resemble each other vegetatively, but they are distinct by characters of the male inflorescences and male flowers.
