Africa present, Asia present, Asia-Tropical, N. Australia present present, tropics of the Old World present
About 6-7 spp. in the tropics of the Old World, in Africa, Asia, Malesia, and N. Australia; in Malesia 1 sp., in N. Australia an endemic species closely allied to it.

Taxonomy

MAHESHWARI has proposed to conserve Moschosma (), but this has not been accepted.
