    Notes

A morphologically variable taxon, represented in Greece by the nominate subspecies Adenocarpus complicatus (L.) J. Gay subsp. complicatus only. A. complicatus subsp. commutatus (Guss.) Cout. has been erroneously given as a second subspecies for Greece in Euro+Med (2006+, accessed 22 Nov 2019) but the latter taxon is endemic to Sicily (see Conti & al. 2005: 46, under A. commutatus Guss.) and absent from the rest of the Mediterranean region, contrary to what is given in Florae europaea 2 (Tutin & al. 1968: 104). – Th.
