Ophrys scolopax subsp. cornuta is recognized by the comparatively small flowers with long lateral horns. The Mediterranean bee orchids have attracted much attention due to their intricate variation patterns and specialized pollination syndrome. About 20 species occur in Greece, some of them variable and comprising several subspecies. In addition, hundreds of local populations, hybrids and even vaguely deviating individuals have been described as separate species.A
