Placement status: name or taxon excluded (unspecific) (Not in Greece (Strid 1986: 608, Greuter & al. 1986: 272). Material of H. barbatum from NE (Mt Vrondous, Rechinger 10853, type of H. aucheri var. punctato-fimbriatum Rech. f.) was incorrectly identified by Robson in 1967 as H. richeri subsp. grisebachii (Boiss.) Nyman and is the source for the record of this subspecies from Greece in Tutin & al. (1968: 267), see Robson (2012: 77).)
