    Fritillaria conica is known only from a few localities in S Peloponnisos, growing in macchie and phrygana on rocky limestone slopes at low altitude. The genus Fritillaria has c. 22 species in Greece, which is thus a centre of diversity; several of the species are restricted to very small areas. Other yellow-flowered species are F. rhodia (endemic to Rodos) and F. carica (Samos, Chios and the adjacent mainland of W Anatolia).A
