    Fumana bonapartei was discovered and described by the French botanists Maire and Petitmengin, who made two important expeditions in Greece in 1904 and 1906. It belongs to the serpentine element of N Pindos, growing on rocky and gravelly slopes between c. 900 and 2100 m, extending into adjacent parts of Albania and F. Y. R. Makedonija.A
