Digitalis cariensis subsp. ikarica was first described as a subspecies of D. leucophaea. It is distinctly different from the latter but very close to D. cariensis from W Anatolia. As currently understood, subsp. ikarica is endemic to the island of Ikaria, where it is fairly common on gravelly road embankments.A
