    Taxon info

Saxifraga ferdinandi-coburgi is endemic to a small area in NE Greece and SW Bulgaria. It is locally abundant on some limestone mountains, e.g. on Falakro, where it grows in rock crevices and on rocky slopes at 1500–2200 m. The species was named after King Ferdinand of Bulgaria (1861–1948), of the Saxe-Coburg-Gotha family, who was a keen naturalist.A
