Placement status: name or taxon excluded (unspecific) (Endemic to the Central Mediterranean (Menorca, Corsica, Sardinia, Tuscany), hence absent from Greece (Bagella & al. (2015). Greek material recently published under this name belong to I. sicula, a species extending to the Eastern Mediterranean and differing from I. gymnocarpa by chromosome number and non-fimbriate megaspores.)
