    Campanula lavrensis was described from the walls of Megisti Lavra, the oldest and largest monastery on Agion Oros. It belongs to C. sect. Quinqueloculares, a taxonomically difficult group with several local and regional endemics especially in S mainland Greece, Peloponnisos and the Aegean area. They are generally prostrate in crevices of limestone cliffs or frequently in cracks of mortar on walls of old buildings, developing a flat leaf rosette for a few years, then flowering and dying.A
