Description

Petiole with a sheath to 12 cm long; blade with 7-11 veins, pellucid markings present as separate lines. Inflorescence usually with winged rachis. Fruit with beak less than half as long as fruit.

Distribution

Guyana present present, Southern America: Bolivia (Bolivia present); Paraguay (Paraguay present); Venezuela (Venezuela present)
from Venezuela to Guyana and S to Bolivia, Brazil and Paraguay; more than 60 collections examined, 10 from Guyana (GU: 10).

Uses

Sold as aquarium plants under German commercial name "Langgriffliger Froschlöffel" ("Longstyled Toadspoon"); also sold under name E. 'inpai'.

Notes

Jonker (1943: 476) treats E. intermedius as occurring in Suriname. The only specimen that he mentions, however, belongs to E. grisebachii.
