Description

Tree up to 35 m tall. Branchlets appressed-puberulous. Stipules 0.2-0.8(-1.2) cm long, appressed-puberulous or appressed-pubescent, terminal buds slender; petiole 0.3-1 cm long; blade coriaceous, elliptic to narrowly elliptic, (2.5)4-13(-18) x 1.5-4.5(-5.5) cm, apex acuminate to acute, base acute to obtuse (to subcordate), margin entire, glabrous above, puberulous or glabrous beneath; veins prominent to plane beneath, secondary veins (9-)15-23 pairs. Staminate inflorescences 0.4-0.8 cm in diam.; involucral bracts 15-35. Pistillate inflorescences 0.2-0.3 cm in diam.; involucral bracts 10-18; stigmas 4-5(-7) mm long. Fruiting perianth ellipsoid, 0.8-0.9 x 0.6-0.7 cm, (partly) white puberulous.

Northern South America, in Guyana only known from Mt. Iramaikpang and in French Guiana only from Saiil, not yet found in Surinam.
