Description

Climbing shrub. Leaves: Inflorescence terminal and axillary forming a panicle, 7.1-12 cm long; Sepals ovate, 1.9 times as long as wide, 3 by 1.6 mm, apex obtuse, densely tomentose; Stamens inserted at c. 2.1 mm from base, c. 0.3 of tube length; Ovaries 1 mm long, pubescent; Fruit unknown.

Distribution

Asia-Tropical: New Guinea present
Malesia: New Guinea.

Taxonomy

This species is undoubtedly closely related to M. novoguineensis from which it is easily distinguished by its very much larger flowers. It is so far known only from the type collection.
