Description

Monoecious tree. Leaves distichous, penninerved, with infrequent laticifers. Petals 4 in the ♂, 6-8 in the ♀, connate to an urceolate tube for the lower ¾, free above in form of 4 lobes. Ovary rudimentary. Ovary pyramidal, 1-celled, with 2 (unitegmic or naked?) ovules pendent from the short basal placenta; Fruit drupaceous, concrescent with the much enlarged calyx below; Seed 1, containing exclusively oil;

Distribution

Asia-Tropical: Borneo present; Malaya (Peninsular Malaysia present); Sumatera (Sumatera present)
Monotypic. Indochina; in Malesia: Sumatra, Malay Peninsula, and Borneo. .
