Macrosolen tetragonus

Description

Glabrous. Leaves opposite; lamina mostly oblong to suborbicular, mostly 8-12 cm long, mostly 3-6 cm wide, thick, cuneate to truncate at the base and sessile or subsessile or with a petiole to 5 mm long, rounded or rarely attenuate and acute or obtuse at the apex, slightly lustrous above, dull below; venation pinnate with the midrib visible above and prominent below and the main laterals visible on both sides. Inflorescencess at the nodes, a raceme of (3-)5-9 opposite pairs of flowers; axis 20-42 mm long; pedicels 1-3 mm long.

Distribution

Asia-Tropical: Jawa (Jawa present); Sumatera (Sumatera present)
Malesia: Sumatra, Java.

Notes

Similar to Macrosolen cochinchinensis, differing in the angular young stems, thicker leaves and more robust inflorescences.
