Swietenieae

Description

Flowers with or without a gynophore. Petals free. Stamens 8–10(11), filaments part- ly or completely united into a cylindrical, urceolate or bowl-shaped tube, margin lobed or not. Capsule woody, nearly always with a well-developed columella, the valves sometimes splitting into an outer woody and an inner membraneous layer. Seeds vari- ously winged; cotyledons collateral, flattened; (residual) endosperm present.

Africa and Madagascar, present, India and Sri Lanka present, Pantropical present, tropical America present
Pantropical. Nine genera, five restricted to Africa and Madagascar, one to India and Sri Lanka, two to tropical America and the following.
