Description
Flowers with or without a gynophore.
Petals free.
Stamens 8–10(11), filaments part- ly or completely united into a cylindrical, urceolate or bowl-shaped tube, margin lobed or not.
Capsule woody, nearly always with a well-developed columella, the valves sometimes splitting into an outer woody and an inner membraneous layer.
Seeds vari- ously winged; cotyledons collateral, flattened; (residual) endosperm present.
