Description

Glabrous monoecious tree (6-)10-22(-40) m, fluted towards the base; Branchlets slender, striate, zig-zag, older parts with linear lenticels. Leaves distichous, oblong or elliptic, sometimes lanceolate, short-acuminate, base cuneate to obtuse or rounded, (sub)coriaceous or parchmentlike, shagreened from minute warts especially beneath, dull and brittle in the dry state, 5-7 (-9) by 2.5-4 cm, nerves (5-) 6-8 (-10) pairs, rather inconspicuous on both faces; Inflorescences racemose-corymbiform, c. 5-flowered, 1-1.5 cm; Flowers small, green. Petals connate below, forming a thickish urceolate corolla, 2 mm. Ovary conical, tapering to a short style; Seed 1;
