Description

Aerial stem-parasitic shrubs (haustorial structure unknown). Leaves opposite. Inflorescencess axillary, a simple 2-flowered umbel, rarely produced into a 4-flowered raceme or spike of decussate pairs; bracts solitary under each flower. Stamens slightly unequal in length; anthers dorsifixed, versatile. Fruit nearly globular.

Cecarria shows several character states which appear to be primitive for the family, especially its open, pale-coloured, choripetalous, apparently insect-attracting corolla and dorsifixed versatile anthers;
