Adenanthera marina

Description

Shrub c. 3 m high, branches c. 1 cm in diameter. Branchlets glabrous. Leaves: Stipules broadly oblong, c. 1.5 mm, inconspicuous, fused with the branch- lets. Flowers cream to yellow. Petals broadly oblong, acute, 3 mm, glabrous. Stamens c. 3 mm; Ovary c. 1.5 mm, glabrous; Seeds uniformly red, suborbicular to obliquely obovoid, 4.5-6 by 4.5-6 by 3.5-4 mm, strongly convex, pleurogram c. 4 by 4.5 mm, linea fissura ± parallel to the margin, open towards the hilum.

Distribution

Asia-Tropical: Malaya (Peninsular Malaysia present), Pahang present, Treng- ganu present
Malesia: Malay Peninsula (Treng- ganu, Pahang).

Notes

Known from four collections only. Grows in Malaya in a similar habitat as A. pavonina.
