Trigonotis papuana

Description

Creeping herbs, often forming large mats. Leaves in two rows flat on the ground by twisting of the sheath-like, clasping petiole, petiole 1-7 mm long, blade oblong, oblong-ovate or spathulate, 0.4-2 by 0.2- 0.9 cm, abruptly narrowed into petiole, apex rounded or often retuse, glabrous above, strigose along midrib alone below, margins antrorse strigose. Flowers solitary, axillary or extra-axillary; pedicels 1-3 mm long in flower, up to 7 mm in fruit, antrorse strigose. Stamens 1 mm long, anthers 0.8 mm.

Distribution

Asia-Tropical: New Guinea endemic
Malesia: New Guinea, widespread, endemic.

Notes

Obviously the most common species on New Guinea.
