Taxonomy
Knema pubiflora may be confused with K. conferta and K. kunstleri, both also with dotted lower leaf surfaces; K. conferta differs in a stouter habit, flowers glabrous inside, and flat staminal disc; K. kunstleri has a different indumentum on the lower leaf surface consisting of sparse minute scale-like hairs, flowers glabrous inside, and flat staminal disc. Knema pubiflora is the only species of Knema with the perianth hairy inside and the leaves have a remarkable dark brown drying colour.
