Description

Tree, 5-40 m tall, 10-100 cm diam.

Distribution

Asia-Tropical: Borneo present; Jawa (Jawa absent); Malaya present; Philippines (Philippines present); Sumatera (Sumatera present), Central Celebes present, Luzon present, Mindanao present, New Britain present, New Hebrides present, New Ireland present, Pacific: Fiji (Fiji present), Southeast Asia present, along the N. coast of New Guinea present, northern Burma present, southernmost China present
Northern Burma and southernmost China, through Southeast Asia to Malesia: Sumatra, Malaya, Borneo, Philippines (Luzon, Mindanao), Central Celebes, along the N. coast of New Guinea (incl. New Britain and New Ireland), and New Hebrides to Fiji. Common, but not in Java. .

Notes

Only in Celebes is there an overlap with var. imbricatus with possibly transitional forms. In Borneo, Mindanao, and along the northern coast of New Guinea specimens approach var. robustus in form. Specimens from the western and eastern parts of the range are identical and easily distinguishable from other varieties.
