Malesia: Papua New Guinea (Louisiade Archipelago: Misima I., Mt Sisa); known only from the type.
Taxonomy
The male flowers are almost identical with those of M. schleinitzii, including the androecium with 8-10 thecae (with broad connectives) as against 12-16 in M. schleinitzii.
