Leaves coriaceous, elliptic-oblong or oblong(-lanceolate), 17-30 by 5-9.5 cm; Inflorescences (female) of the Knema-tyipe: Fruits solitary, ellipsoid, 2.5-3.5(-4) by 1.5-2.5 cm, apex subacute, hairs powdery, (light) brown, 0.5 mm;


Asia-Tropical, Papua Barat present, western Bird's Head present
Malesia: Papua Barat (western Bird's Head).


Var. rimosa is clearly distinguishable by the rough, flaky and lenticellate-fissured bark of the twigs. The persistent perianth (with hairs 1 mm long) under the fruit is remarkable.
