Description

Sepals nearly always persistent in fruit. Petals sessile with a broad or narrowed base, without auricles, thin-fleshy to rarely membranous. Seeds with a complex arillode composed of a sarcotestal part and a free arillode.

Distribution

Asia-Tropical: Sri Lanka (Sri Lanka present), New Hebrides present, Pacific: Fiji (Fiji present); Samoa (Samoa present); Tonga (Tonga present)
24 species, as widely distributed as the genus with the exception of Sri Lanka, the New Hebrides, Fiji, Samoa, and Tonga.
