Parsonsia philippinensis

Description

Branchlets minutely puberulent. Leaves opposite; Inflorescence of axillary and, often, terminal cymes, robust, 3.3-10 cm long; Sepals ovate to oblong, 1.6-2.7 by 1.3-1.7 mm, 1-2.1 times as long as wide, apex rounded to obtuse, puberulent. Stamens inserted at 0.9-2.1 mm from corolla base which is 0.2-0.6 of tube length; Ovary 0.8-1.6 mm long; Fruit fusiform, thick-walled, glabrous, 8-13.3 by 1-1.4 cm. Seeds not seen.

Asia-Tropical: Borneo present; Jawa (Jawa present); Malaya (Peninsular Malaysia present); Thailand (Thailand present), southern Philippines present
Thailand; in Malesia: Peninsular Malaysia, Borneo, Java, southern Philippines.

Taxonomy

This species can be distinguished from P. alboflavescens by the fleshy flowers and the large overlap of the corolla lobes in P. philippinensis.
