Nephelium lappaceum var. xanthioides

Description

Tree, up to 30 m high, dbh up to 60 cm, with up to 2 m high buttresses. Leaves 2-5-jugate; Sepals 4 or 5, connate up to halfway, 0.7-1.6 mm long, on both sides densely hairy. Stamens 5 or 6. Fruits 3 by 2 by 1.25 cm, wall c. 1 mm thick.

Distribution

Asia-Tropical: Borneo present
Malesia: Borneo.

Uses

Locally grown as a fruit tree, mainly in Sarawak.

Notes

The present variety resembles N. cuspi-datum var. multinerve and a Bornean form of N. ramboutan-ake; for differences, see under the former.
