Dioecious or monoecious plant.
Inflorescences spadix-like, unisexual or bisexual, at first covered by the flattened, marginally cohering tops of polygonate, peltate scales ();
Distribution
Asia-Tropical: Jawa (Jawa present); Sulawesi (Sulawesi present); Sumatera (Sumatera present), Buru present, Central Moluccas present, E. Himalaya present
Monotypic. E. Himalaya, Indo-China, in Malesia: Sumatra, Java, Celebes, and Central Moluccas (Buru). .
Notes
The closest taxonomic relatives within subfam. Helosidoideae are Exorhopala in Malaya and Ditepalanthus in Madagascar (cf. ).
