Description

Shrub or tree, up to 18 m high, dbh up to 20 cm. Glabrous but for shortly dark- to orange-brown velvety buds and inflorescences. Leaves 2-4-jugate; Inflorescences axillary, rami-, and cauliflorous, in dense groups, 2-2.5 cm long, axes racemoid, few-flowered; Sepals: Petals oblanceolate, c. 15 by 4 mm, white, cream, or very pale mauve, glabrous. Stamens 8, white; Fruits broad-cordate, c. 18 by 22-25 mm, widest at or above the middle, orange to red; Seeds usually 1 per locule, arillode bright red.
