    V. limnense Fraas (1845) is the oldest name under Verbascum for the species known as Celsia tomentosa Zucc. (1837), V. tomentosum (Zucc.) Kuntze (1891) non Lam. (1778), or V. zuccarinii (Boiss.) I.K. Ferguson (1971).
