Notes

In the literature, there has been much confusion on the type (Haynes & Holm-Nielsen 1994: 37). Application of Art. 37.3 of the ICBN (McNeill et al., Regnum Veg. 146), however, leaves open only one possibility: Hooker & Arnott only mentioned Andrieux 91, this clearly was the specimen on which they based their description. In addition, these authors state that Andrieux had found this species in Oaxaca as well; a comment indicating a second locality, without mention of a second specimen.
