Description

Liana or climbing shrub. Bark gray, striate. Petiole 1-1.5 cm long, slender, finely strigose; blades coriaceous, elliptic to ovate, 7-18 x 5-8 cm, margins slightly dentate by the protruding veins, apex apiculate, base rounded, inconspicuously shortly strigose and probably glabrescent above, shortly strigose especially on veins beneath; primary vein impressed above, strongly prominent beneath, secondary veins 7-10 per side, like reticulation impressed above and strongly prominent beneath. Inflorescence terminal, lower parts axillary, the short, stout branches bearing several2-7 cm longspiciform racemes with flattened rachis. Flowers small, sessile or subsessile, arranged in two rows of bracteate glomerules on one side of flattened rhachis; calyx cupular, 1.5 mm diam., lobes broadly triangular; petals 5, elliptic-oblong, 1.5 mm long in bud, midrib prominent, glabrous; stamens 5, filaments 1-2 mm long in bud, anthers rounded, slightly sagittate at base, ca. 0.5 mm long, dorsi-basifixed, connective short; ovary short-conical, about 1 mm long, hirsute, stigma sessile at the apex. Fruit ovoid, 2 cm long, 1.5 cm diam.
