Description

Tree to 10 m high. Ultimate parts of branchlets angular, glabrous, strongly lenticellate. Stipules corky, broadly triangular, acute, c. 1 mm. Flowers golden to bright yellow, pentamerous. Stamens c. 3.5 mm. Ovary sessile, glabrous. Seeds longitudinal, broadly elliptic, 5-6 by 3.5-5 mm, areole large, closed;

Distribution

Asia-Temperate: Taiwan (Taiwan present), Asia-Tropical: Philippines (Philippines present), Luzon present
Taiwan; in Malesia: Philippines (Luzon).

Notes

It is difficult to judge whether this is indigenous, or cultivated and naturalized in the Philippines. Cultivated in Malaya (1020-1200 m) and also in Sabah, Java (Bogor) and Sumatra (Lorzing 17334, L). The species is close to A. simsii, but differs by larger flowers and pods.
