Description

Shrub, or mostly a tree, to 30 m; Leaves glabrous, sometimes the midrib above and underside hairy, 7-17(-22) by 3-7½ cm; Ovary 3-4-celled; Fruit obovoid to spindle-shaped, 3-5 by 2-3 cm;

Distribution

Asia-Tropical: Borneo present; Malaya (Peninsular Malaysia present); Sumatera (Sumatera present); Thailand (Thailand presentpresent), Burma present, Continental SE. Asia present, W. Java present, West Malesia present
Continental SE. Asia (Burma, Thailand, Indo-China) and West Malesia (Sumatra, Malay Peninsula, W. Java, Borneo), a distinct subspecies in Thailand.

Notes

Additional material has shown that S. stenosepala STEEN. cannot be upheld and, moreover, that S. maingayi CLARKE deserves only varietal rank.
