Trees.
Stipules adnate to or free from petiole.
Flowers terminal, solitary, bisexual.
Fruiting carpels free, crowded, dehiscent along the dorsal and sometimes also the ventral suture.
Distribution
Asia-Tropical: Maluku (Maluku absent); New Guinea absent, E. Himalayas present, S. China present, tropical and subtropical Asia present
About 25 species in tropical and subtropical Asia from the E. Himalayas eastwards to S. China and Malesia (5 spp., not in the Moluccas and New Guinea).
