Description

Tree 5-35 m. Leaves chartaceous or coriaceous, elliptic to oblong-lanceolate, widest at or below the middle, 14-33 by (5.5-)6-13 cm, base (short-)attenuate to broadly rounded, apex (acute-)acuminate, blade coarsely undulate on drying, margin not revolute; Inflorescences paniculate, with (grey-)rusty ± woolly hairs 0.2-0.4 mm long; Flowers grey-rusty pubescent inside and outside, hairs 0.1-0.2 mm long. Fruits 4-25 per infructescence, ellipsoid-oblong, 1.8-2.4 by 1-1.4 cm, (early) glabrescent or short-pubescent, hairs 0.1 mm;

Distribution

Asia-Tropical: Borneo present; Malaya (Peninsular Malaysia present, Singapore present); Sumatera (Sumatera present), S Thailand present
S Thailand; Malesia: Sumatra, Peninsular Malaysia, Singapore, Borneo. Somewhat arbitrarily two varieties can be distinguished, of which one confined to Borneo.

Morphology

The leaves of G. forbesii usually dry coarsely undulate, not flat as in other species.
