Clethra canescens var. dementis

Description

Leaves oblong-lanceolate to oblong, apex acutely acuminate, base cuneate-attenuate, thinly subcoriaceous, younger ones first stellate-hairy, early glabrescent above, ± densely set with fascicled and stellate, rather coarse hairs at midrib and nerves beneath, laxly or hardly so at the veins, intervenium glabrous, mature ones quite glabrous and a little shining above, glabrescent first at the veins, more tardily so at midrib and nerves beneath, subentire or shallowly glandular-serrate, (6-)7-14 by (1.5-)2-3(-3.5-4) cm, nerves (10-)12-14 pairs, curved-ascending towards the edge, rather indistinctly inarching there, prominent beneath, veins but slightly raised beneath; Petals erose-fimbriate at apex, 3-4 mm.
